We were delighted to welcome some world class performers for this event. Soprano Emma Tring - a member of the BBC Singers and Exaudi Vocal Ensemble - returned together with BBC Symphony orchestra members, violinist Philip Brett and horn player Nicholas Korth, alongside celebrated pianist Julian Rolton. South African-born viola player (and former principal in the Leipzig Gewandhaus orchestra) Gareth Lubbe demonstrated his virtuosity and extraordinary overtone singing skills in our programme which explored the wonders of natural harmony and introduced a a prototype of a magical new instrument, the Harmonic Sail.


6.30pm Pre-concert Event

An introduction to natural harmony, overtone singing and the Harmonic Sail, an instrument comprised of bowed rods attached to a vibrating steel sheet, performed by cellist and composer Colin Alexander. Brinch’s Subharmonic Studies for Solo Viola and an extract of Korth’s new work, The Chemistry of Angels, were also featured.
